Remember, Remember, the Dead of November...

Happy new moon witches, and Happy new month! November…a month of darkness, bonfires and, for us, more witchy events!

October may be over but spooky season is not! Today, 1st November is of course All Saints Day followed by All Souls Day (Or the Day of the Dead) tomorrow. As Herstorical Tours is all about honouring dead women of the past, Hex and the City our flagship witch tour will be running tonight, 1st November - there are a few tickets left- so I’d encourage you to get in fast if you want to join us! If you can’t make it, we’re running it again on 22nd November too. Go to our Hex and the City page to learn more and book.

If you’ve missed the Strumpets of Covent Garden (I know I have!) well good news, they’re BACK this month. Get your fill of innuendo and juicy herstories on 15th November with Harlots, Strumpets and Tarts, Oh My!.

Alternatively, if you want to venture even further south (ahem!) come along to Goddesses, Gals and Rat Queens/Sinners, Saints and Saviours (there are two names for this tour!) on 24th November. Meet vengeful creatures of folklore, jaded medieval  sex workers and Victorian working class heroines.

Other Witchy events this month

I’m also running two special events this month. On 11th November I will be giving my popular talk at the Last Tuesday Society: 'The Burning Times’ about the history of the witch craze in London -  if talks rather than walks are more your thing!  This will be introduced with a short performance from a London witch who suffered a bad end, and I won’t reveal any more than that! This event is likely to sell out, so get your ticket now!

Aaaand on the 9th November something very special is happening. I’ll be taking part in the Croydon Bites Theatre Festival for new talent in Croydon.  I’ll be presenting a short performance ‘We Can’t All be Field Mice’.

Inspired by the bizarre story of a legendary Croydon witch that I unearthed, this is a semi-autobiographical piece across timelines about acceptance, self love and tolerance of difference. My performance is just one of three that evening, so do come and check it out if you fancy!

October Highlights!

I hope October treated you well, despite the madness of the Aries full moon (I don’t know about you but it made me go slightly loopy!)

As usual we were Hexing our way through it mostly, with a highlight being my performance and talk at the Chelsea Physic Garden ‘Hex in the Garden’. This was a real magical treat, and it certainly felt like the ghosts of the cunning women were with us amongst the herbs and trees… If you missed it, don’t worry, The Garden and I are in talks to run something for Beltane next year. So watch this space!

Below are some photo highlights of October.

I’ll be back with this month’s Herstory in a couple of weeeks. The story this month is a bit of a grisly one, but darkly fitting for the time of year. You’ll see what I mean…
