February..What's cooking..?

Herstorical Tours

January blues are over and it’s February, the official month of love…so what better way to kick off than with the creepiest vintage Valentines card I could find! 😂 Nice bit of cannibalism being advertised there..and who are WE to judge eh?

As is traditional every year, I am doing my (anti) Valentines Harlots and Strumpets walk. It’s not that I hate romance…. just that I think it’s way more fun to talk about something more realistic and relateable, like lust and power (!)

So if you’ve not got a hot date night planned for the 14th, or even the 15th February, join us. It’ll be a fun walk through Covent Garden’s past as the epicentre of the 18th Century sex trade, and a nice antidote to the endless lovey dovey stuff. The tour does not shy away from the gritty realities of women’s lives in the trade. But it WILL make you laugh, I promise, and we’ll all have a tipple in the pub at the end.

If you want a reminder of what to expect, here’s an excellent summary on Youtube thanks to Urban Adventurer London.

Bringing Hexy Back...(and the rest!)

It’s not just Harlots that’s back this month though. The old favourites are back for 2025 too.

Sinners, Saints and Saviours tour is February 9th, Hex and the City February 21st, and Votes for Women on 23rd. So if you’ve still not been on these, or even if you want to come again and bring friends, click on the page links above to book.

And while we’re on the subject of booking, an impassioned plea. I know this is the pattern in live entertainment nowadays, but I can’t run tours unless people buy tickets in advance. Sounds obvious, but so many of us buy last minute, such is the beauty of having so many options. And I’ve done it myself! The problem with that is, unless we organisers know that a sales threshold has been met, running an event isn’t financially viable. So this is why I’ve sadly had to cancel tours in the past when not enough tickets have been sold 3-4 days ahead.

The opposite issue with booking last minute is that sometimes the event is sold out! And that’s happened with my tours too.

So, wherever possible (and I know it’s often not possible) please book as early as you can.  It’s hugely appreciated! 🙏

Same old, same old...anything new?

I’m sure you all had nothing better to do last month than to wonder what the hell I’ve been doing since no tours were running, right? ;)  Well, I’ve not been sitting on my patriarchy-bashing arse doing nothing, that’s for sure!

Yes, the old favourites are back but new stuff IS coming next month, I’m excited to report.   A few projects are in preparation stages for International Women’s Month and beyond. They might involve plants, art, and lego. Those are the only clues you’ll be getting!

And yes, you’ll be getting a new Herstory blog in a couple of weeks. This month’s profile certainly packs a punch…. 👊

I hope you’ve been enjoying the herstories so far. If you follow me on social media, I also post an audio version on instagram, Facebook and TikTok. I’m also on BlueSky, but Mailchimp doesnt recognise BlueSky yet - so here’s my handle if you’re on there.

Right that’s it. Stay warm, stay sane. I know it’s getting harder and harder with the craziness all around us. But we’ve got this.

Much love,

Herstorical Tours…x
