FAQ

“We never know how high we are, till we are called to rise; and then if we are true to plan, our statures touch the skies.”

Emily Dickinson

  • Why book a ticket with Herstorical Tours?
We get it. There are lots of tour companies out there. But not many include street theatre; not many include engaging storytelling and interpretations of forgotten elements of history; and not many tell only women's stories! So if you're looking for curious history, drama and comedy all told sensitively and cleverly by women and about women, then you’re in the right place!
  • Can I pay on arrival?
No, as we keep the groups small to enhance the experience all tickets must be pre-booked.
  • Where do we visit?
Tours are based in London, from London Bridge to the West End to the City. Check each tour page for more details.
  • What level of fitness do I need?
Walking tours are between 1.30 - 2.15 hours in length. The distances are flat but you must be able to remain on your feet and walk continuously for that length of time. There are no rest stops en route. Distances between stops can be up to 17 minutes walking time- please refer to individual tour pages for details.
  • How many stops are there?
There are no rest stops or toilet breaks - please ensure you go before the tour begins! On each tour we will stop at 6-8 locations for a story for 5-10 minutes each. But you will have to stay on your feet.
  • What if I'm late?
Please arrive 5 minutes early as we will start on the dot. Before the tour, your guide will send you a reminder email and a phone number to contact should there be any problems.
  • What if the weather is bad?
Unless there is extreme weather such as a storm or deluge/snow/extreme heatwave - we will run tours as long as it is safe to do so! Please take the weather into account when attending and wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Bring water.
  • Are the tours wheelchair accessible?
There are some narrow lanes and steps on some of the tours. Please drop us an email or use the contact form if you have any accessibility issues and we'll be able to advise further.
  • What languages are spoken?
Tours are conducted in modern English, with smatterings of cockney rhyming slang, RP and ye olde englishe at times...;-)
  • Is there an age limit?
Hex and the City, Harlots, Jailbirds and Sinners feature adult themes and language around violence, sex and execution. We don't recommend these tours to anyone under 16. Votes for Women! is a little more family friendly, but there are still references to sexual assault and violence. However it is your choice, and we won't send anyone away if they book a ticket. **Please note that photo ID may be needed for the taverns we stop at on Harlots, Jailbirds and Sinners at the end**
  • Are the tours ever cancelled by the organiser?
Tours can only go ahead if a minimum number of tickets are sold, which will vary by tour. If this threshold is not met, you will be offered the option of postponing your tickets to a later date or a full refund.
  • What if I want to change my date or cancel?
The cancellation policy and contact details will be attached to your confirmation email and on our third party booking partner's websites.
  • Should I tip the guide/cast?
We dont expect tips but we always appreciate them! Entirely at your discretion.
  • Do you do private tours?
Yes! We cater to groups, parties and corporate events so if you’re looking for a unique night out please get in touch!
  • I have another question
Please get in touch directly and we'll do our best to help!
